Here is a collection of assorted stuff I have done with time and space and supplies, in no particular order. I have a pretty kindergarten style and it brings me joy.
acrylic over india ink on canvas panel.
watercolor over india ink with acrylic cursive; i think cursive makes even really obvious or banal things seem profound, and this serves as a reminder to myself. the interplay of the india ink and watercolors is something i'm really starting to enjoy.
this one was another painting that i was feeling pretty crappy about, so i put white acrylic over it and played with some watercolors; some fingerpainting required.
you can see what used to be on the foreground of this canvas panel shining through; red background, some green and purple lines. i like the mixture of colors that i wound up with, and needed another reminder for myself- it's okay to give up, but grab your bootstraps after awhile, man.
more india ink with watercolor overlay and some acrylic text- in this case it's a line from my favorite movie, I <3 Huckabees. "you think it's bad, right, because your house burnt down and you might have lost your job?"
the ones above here were all made within the past few days, and i have 25 more 6x6 canvas panels (as well as a few larger ones that i am reluctant to start anything on) and plan on using them pretty often. quick and dirty elevations of the soul.
this is a few years old; you can see my "style" hasn't changed too much. it's one of the muddier backgrounds i've rolled with. i really like the red/teal/white mixture and the violent explosion of red and green at the bottom.
and this one was made in approximately the same time period as the above. i really love the blending achieved in the background colors. i kind of wish i hadn't toothbrush splattered all over the dang foreground, haha.
lastly is this one. it is one of my all time favorite things i have ever made, i think, even though it's so simple. the picture really doesn't give due credit to how defined some of the colors are- i don't know. something about it. the frame is damaged. it makes me think of LSD experiences.
well that's what i've got these days. there might be a few other things i haven't unpacked yet, or have sent far away or otherwise lost. one of my other all time favorite paintings (by myself- which reminds me, luckymud do you remember the self-potrait of that old man at the frist center for the visual arts, galaxies in his sleeves? that still blows my mind) only exists these days in photograph form, i'll put it up here sometime.
thanks for looking, feel free to leave comments, critiques, what have you. i don't want to be a great painter, it just makes me happy
